Questions to Ask Your Makeup Artist
-
Anyone you’re interested in using to complete your makeup styling for the wedding or your special event should be willing to complete a trial appointment to make sure they’re a good fit. This should take place a few months prior to the important date and allow you to figure out how well the artist will work out with you. If it doesn’t work out, no harm, no foul. Simply find someone else and try again. You’ll have plenty of time after.
-
This is important because while you might be alright with coming out to the salon on the big day, a lot of brides would rather have the makeup artist come out to them. With so much going on at this point in time, it’s usually easier to have the makeup artist either come out to the hotel or your home to handle your makeup. Regardless, you should still ask the makeup artist if they’re willing to come to work wherever you will be on your wedding day. At Paulina’s we required a minimum of 3 people to attend a different location than at our clinic.
-
While some makeup artists need pictures of what you’d like your makeup to look like for the big day, others have a firm idea of what should be done. If you don’t want to give them creative freedom, don’t. Simply tell them how you’d like to look and give them pictures they can base your styling on. Ultimately, this is your choice. If you see they’ve done a lot of incredible work in the past by creating their own styles, let them work their magic. This is your choice so consider the options before making any decisions.
-
While you might love the makeup your artist originally comes up with, there are always those times that brides will change their minds. It’s always a good idea to find out what it’s going to cost you to have a re-trial. Changing your mind might not seem like something you’ll do now but it’s always good to know if they will charge a fee for a re-trial. At Paulina’s every time you book a trial there will be a trial cost as listed above.
-
Many brides have their wedding accessories already picked out long in advance. If you don’t, don’t worry about it. But if you do, you might want to bring them with you to the trials to see what they look like with the aesthetic your makeup artist is crafting. You should be able to request the accessories be attached while conducting the trial.
-
We highly recommend you to prepare your skin prior makeup. For example have it cleansed and hydrated. If you are getting married if may be worth it to speak with the Skin Therapist team to help you prepare your skin for the big day and glow. We also recommend you to shape and tint your brows if necessary.

Any other expenses required for the big day will be discussed prior your event.
